CMC Cement & Mortar Color Pigment Dye – Economy and versatility are the primary reasons why CMC color pigments have enjoyed over 50 years of successful use in the concrete industry. Architects and designers depend on CMC color to offer the exact colors wanted to achieve compatibility or exciting contrast between concrete units. Colored concrete is a lasting asset which will add value to any commercial development or private home.

Phosphorescent Day Glow Military Grade-series is the best you can buy.  Phosphorescent, also referred to as Glow in the Dark or Luminescent Powders are pigments that absorb light and slowly emit a glow over time. The glow is best seen in darkness or under black-light conditions. Depending on the pigment and pigment load in the ink, the glow may last a few minutes or several hours, and up to 30 hours under UV light.  A multi-purpose powder around 50 microns. The size and performance makes this series the best suitable line of pigments for a variety of applications. The glow is solid and very bright, so bright it glows in the daytime, unlike most competitors which quickly fade and appear grainy or splotchy after a summer outdoors. The Day  Glow Military Grade-series is designed for customers who not only want the best glow, but also demand consistent product quality and on time delivery.

Color pigments may be safely used for coloring of any type of portland cement concrete. Integrally colored concrete is often used in highly visible areas such as exterior and interior concrete slabs for public buildings, homes, or factories. Concrete areas such as floors, driveways, walkways, cart paths, landscape curbing, pool decks, patios, patterned concrete, Concrete roof tiles, precast products, concrete countertops, Pool Plaster, concrete edgeing, stamped concrete, and cast-in-place concrete all are basic uses for colored concrete

Recommended Mixing Ratio for Day Glow

1-Ounce of powder to 5 fluids ounces of clear medium, paint, acrylics, epoxy, you can always add slightly more pigment for a brighter glow, or less for a more transparent daytime appearance.

Description:

ASTM E2072, 2014 Edition, August 1, 2014 – Standard Specification for Photoluminescent (Phosphorescent) Safety Markings

This specification covers minimum performance requirements for newly applied photoluminescent (phosphorescent) safety materials used to provide supplemental markings of escape routes, emergency equipment, and obstructions along the escape route. (see also Test Method E2073 and Guide E2030).

This specification establishes minimum luminance values for photoluminescent (phosphorescent) markings.

This specification applies to all types of photoluminescent (phosphorescent) markings, including but not limited to plastics, coatings, ceramics, films, etc.

This specification does not cover potentially diminished performance due to wear and tear and aging.

This specification applies only to photoluminescent (phosphorescent) markings emitting the majority of spectral energy within the 515 to 535 nanometer range.

When reference is made regarding photoluminescence in the text of this standard, it implies phosphorescence.

The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.

Applications: Colored concrete is one of the most visible sales tools in the construction industry and can immediately add value and uniqueness to a project. CMC pigments are used with cast-in-place, precast concrete panels, concrete masonry units, plaster finishes, concrete pavers, masonry units, concrete countertops, overlays, stucco, concrete tile roofs, plaster, mortar, grout, and nearly every form of decorative concrete. Colored concrete can provide architects, owners, and contractors the opportunity to express individual and/or matching style and design.

Design Considerations: Using white cement will greatly enhance color intensity, but can also significantly impact project costs.

Key Factors: In pigmented concrete, consistency from batch to batch is of primary concern. To achieve best application possible there needs to be consistency in each of the following: pigment/cement proportions (measured by weight, not volume), material sources, water/cement ratio, substrate density, and absorption rate, slab or precast element thickness, mixing time with other ingredients, finishing procedures and practices, weather conditions, and curing practices.

MIXING DOSAGE:  Actual colors can vary based on the mixing dose-rate to cement.

Powdered Cement Colors in stock: Brown 735, Aqua Blue, Autumn Brown, Brite Red, Chocolate Brown, Dark Buff, Deep Black, Dark Red, Irish Green, Jet Black, Light buff, Mahogany, Miami Beach Red, Mesa Buff, Plum Purple, Red 10-285, Rust Brown, Sandstone, Savannah Brown, Surf Blue, Terra Cotta, White, and Yellow.

  • This Day Glow phosphorescent (glow-in-the-dark) powder is the brightest, longest lasting, non-toxic & non-radioactive, glow-in-the-dark material known.
  • Made from the Rare-Earth element Europium, Day Glow powders are the next generation phosphorescent material with an astonishing long glow time as long as 30 hours!
  • Powder can be mixed with anything from clear paint, to wax, plastic, clear nail polish, gel, plastics, glaze, clear epoxy etc.
  • For use in paint, brightest results are obtained by mixing as much glow powder as possible in a clear, non-water based paint. This glow paint should them be painted over white background which acts as a reflector enhancing the visible glow.
  • Sunlight, ordinary indoor lighting as well as UV (blacklight) can be used to “charge up” Europium Day Glow powder. The more UV wavelengths the light contains, the faster it will charge. Sunlight (3,000 – 50,000 lux light level) will charge up the powder the fastest, requiring only 5 minutes of exposure.

Proudly Made in the U.S.A

Once cured and sealed this concrete pigment is lightfast, odorless, alkali and weather resistant, UV stable, non-hazardous, chemically inert, water insoluble, and provides a consistent color outlasting any chemical liquid dyes.
